LIMBOarchivo3(1).jpg

Limbo is the archive that since 2018, when I first started getting interested in the problem of cultural property trafficking, I have been putting together.

What I gathered at first, without any other intention than to inform myself, has become an intentional task that seeks the continuous collection of information to create a unique file of its kind, and to serve as a reference bank for those interested in the subject.

Among Limbo's documentary interests are: existing legislations, international agreements, looting news, auctions, and relevant information about broadcast organizations and events that fight against this scourge. This archive also provides an account of the attempts at reparation or acts of restitution given by collectors and governments, and includes notes on various artists and activists who reflect on and fight against this extractivism, which reinforces social inequity and asymmetries in the distribution of cultural capital in the world.

For now, it is a small and simple archive, but one that largely describes the magnitude of the problem and its consequences.  AN
